Jan has a long history of lacrosse involvement, most significantly in the area of officiating, however, also as an administrator. Jan commenced her international officiating career in 1990 as the Australian umpire on a tour visiting Scotland, Wales and England.

Since that time, Jan has umpired in three World Cups (1993, 1997, 2001), held the role of Technical Delegate at four world events – 1989 and 2009 World Cup and 1995 and 2011 U19 World Championships. Jan obtained her International Accreditation in 1989 and is a current FIL international Emeritus Umpire. In addition to her world event experience, Jan has also umpired in the European Championships and most recently attended the 2012 New Zealand Women’s National Championships to conduct officiating clinics.

In addition to her officiating expertise, Jan has held board positions on the Australian Lacrosse Association (formerly Women’s Lacrosse Australia), Lacrosse Victoria, Women’s Lacrosse Victoria and Camberwell Lacrosse Club and has extended experience in managing a national competitions port folio.

Jan is “honoured and very excited to be appointed as Chair of FIL Women’s Rules Committee and acknowledge I have very big shoes to fill, following on from Susie Ganzenmuller. I’m delighted to have the opportunity to engage the international lacrosse community on another level and am looking forward to working with friends and colleagues in the ever-expanding membership of international lacrosse and to meeting the challenges of this vital and pivotal role”.

Prior to meeting with the Women’s Sector Chairs and FIL Board in mid-January 2013, Jan will immediately begin ensuring that all member countries are promoting the most current set of FIL Rules, Approved Crosses and Pockets and considering how they will test the 2015-2018 trial rules.
