FIL to host second General Assembly

(Wilmington, DE) The second Federation of International Lacrosse General Assembly will take place July 13th and 14th in the Chancellors Hotel and Conference Centre in Manchester England. A delegate and an observer from each member nation will be in attendance to hear reports of FIL activities and development, and to vote on various documents.

The FIL Board has been working very hard to update and create new documents that will be the governing outline of the organization.

For the first time, a Code of Conduct for all FIL World Events will be presented. The FIL Anti-Doping Rules have been updated and approved by WADA and now are to be voted on by the membership. The Women’s Competition Committee has completely re-organized their event bylaws which includes a document on player eligibility criteria. Both the men and women are recommending several rules changes.

Always a highlight of this meeting is the presentations of future FIL World events by the host country. These presentations will have everyone in attendance dreaming of the future of lacrosse. Along with future planning will be review of a 5-year budget and the new strategic plan for FIL.

About the FIL

The Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) is the international governing body for men’s and women’s lacrosse. The FIL currently sanctions five World Championships (women’s and men’s field, women’s and men’s U19 field and men’s indoor). The FIL is responsible for the governance and integrity of all forms of lacrosse and provides responsive and effective leadership to support the sports’ development throughout the world.
