(TORONTO, CANADA) The FIL Board has approved the appointment of Julia Martin to the position of Administrative Assistant. Julia will begin her post immediately.
After a national search, Stan Cockerton, FIL President and Feffie Barnhill, FIL VP, selected Julia for her passion for the sport of lacrosse coupled with her strong background in media relations.

Martin is no stranger to the FIL. This past summer Julia served as a Women’s Lacrosse World Cup event assistant where she contributed to everything from game operations to capturing the event through photography. Her work during July left a deep impression on Barnhill, Cockerton and the rest of the FIL staff, which was noted in the application review process.
“The FIL is very fortunate to find such a talented and enthusiastic young lady to help assist our organization,” said Feffie Barnhill, who has been serving in this role for one year. “Julia has the experience we are looking for in media relations and has organizational skills that will definitely assist FIL, especially in the upcoming FIL General Assembly.”
“I am very excited to be part of such an incredible organization,” said Martin. “To be able to work side by side with legends and pioneers of the sport is a true honor. I am overjoyed to serve the FIL board and all its member nations with enthusiasm as we work together to advance the sport of lacrosse across the globe.”
Martin, a graduate of the College of William & Mary, appeared in three Colonial Athletic Association Championship Tournaments as a member of the women’s lacrosse team. She helped the Tribe earn back-to-back regular season titles as a junior and senior, and co-captained the 2009 squad that set a school record for conference wins. Upon graduation, Martin worked in William and Mary’s athletic department as the assistant director of media relations.
