(OSHAWA, ONTARIO) For the first time in the history of the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Women’s World Cup, the U.S. and Canada will meet in the championship game Saturday at 3 p.m.
(OSHAWA, ONTARIO) Unlike Round One there were no surprises is the Quarterfinals of the Championship Bracket. All of the four top seeded teams moved on to the Semifinals. The #1 seeded USA squad dominated #8 Haudenosaunee 20-1, #4 England shut out #5 Wales 10-0, #2 Canada downed #10 Israel 17-5 and #3 Australia defeated #11 Scotland 26-2.
(OSHAWA, ONTARIO) Round 1 of the Championship Bracket was highlighted by two big upsets. #11 Scotland upended previously unbeaten #6 Japan in a thrilling come from behind win in the final minutes and #10 Israel ousted #7 New Zealand. #5 Wales defeated #12 Austria and #8 Haudenosaunee eliminated #9 Ireland in the other two Championship Bracket games.
FIL 2013 Women’s Lacrosse World Cup Pool Final
(OSHAWA, ONTARIO) Tuesday’s games marked the end of pool play. The USA’s win over Canada and Japan’s win over Israel highlighted a full day of action. FIL officials worked into the wee hours sorting out the seeds for championship bracket play which begins today.
