Three Join International Men’s Lacrosse Committees

Tom Sutton of Eden, N.Y., and Dennis Mulroney of Burnside, South Australia, have been named members of the Men’s Officiating Committee. Robert (Rob) Powell, of Edinburgh, Scotland, has been appointed to FIL’s Men’s Rules Committee.

Stephen Taylor Appointed Women’s Chair of Officiating

The Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Taylor of Manchester, England, who now resides in Ontario, Canada, as the Chair of Women’s Officiating. Stephen begins this position immediately and will focus initially on preparing and overseeing officials at the 2015 U19 Women’s World Championship, to be held in Edinburgh, Scotland from 23 July – 1 August.

Australian Lacrosse Champion, Sue McSolvin, receives OAM

(Australian Lacrosse Association) Australian Lacrosse Champion, Sue McSolvin, has been awarded an Order of Australia Medal, General Division on Australia Day 2015 for services to Lacrosse.

Taiwan Becomes FIL’s 52nd Member

Chinese Taipei was granted membership as the 52nd country to join the Federation of International Lacrosse. The Taiwan Lacrosse Association (TWLA) focuses on the growth of lacrosse in the country and joins nine other Pacific rim members; Australia, New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia.

Tom Hayes, FIL Director of Development, was proud to make the announcement, “We welcome Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) as the 52nd member of the FIL to the international lacrosse community. We recognize the growth of lacrosse in southeast Asia as the fastest growing region in the world. The FIL looks forward to Taiwan attending future FIL Championships."

TLA Founder Joins FIL Development Committee

(Toronto, Canada) The Federation of International Lacrosse is proud to announce the addition of Prantarit “Payu” Nerngchamnong to the FIL Development committee.

Payu is the President and Founder of the Thailand Lacrosse Association and has assisted with lacrosse development in Singapore and Malaysia, both recently becoming FIL’s 47th and 51st members respectively.

Payu served as the captain for the Thailand National team from 2010-2012, and coached the Thai team to Bronze at the ASPAC2013 Tournament in Beijing last year.

Tom Hayes, Director of FIL Development says, “Payu has been the driving force for the development of lacrosse in Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan. Due to his efforts, southeast Asia has been international lacrosse’s fastest growing region in the world.”

The Federation of International Lacrosse welcomes Payu as they work together to continue the growth and development of lacrosse around the world.

Daily schedule of The World Games 2017

The International World Games Association announced the daily schedule of the sports program for the 10th edition of these games in Wroclaw/Poland 2017.

FIL will stage a four-day, six-team Women’s Lacrosse Tournament August 4-7 at the 2017 IWGA World Games. Teams have yet to be determined, however, the order of finish at the 2013 Women’s World Cup in Oshawa will factor heavily in the selection of the first five teams, with host Poland as the sixth team.

(Lausanne, Switzerland) Federation of International Lacrosse Director of Development, Tom Hayes, and Director of Finance, Ron Balls, were in attendance for the 8th annual IF Forum which took place in Lausanne, Switzerland from Monday, November 3rd through Wednesday, November 5th.

The focus of the forum was to empower top sports leaders from international federations with information and mutually beneficial exchanges.
